Five Tips For Bathroom Maintenance
A bathroom is one room in your house that you would think requires the least amount of maintenance. However, this room is prone to dirt, germs, and grime, and as it has numerous fixtures, facilities, and appliances, it needs continuous maintenance. Besides the basic cleaning, there are certain other aspects that you’ll need to look into as well to ensure the bathroom is hygienic and in working condition for as long as you’re living in your home.
At Mi Casa Home Inspections, we understand where you should focus when it comes to household maintenance, especially your bathroom. To help you maintain this part of the home fast and efficiently, we have outlined in this blog five tips to maintain your bathroom.
Tip #1: Keep the tile grout in good condition
Tile grout helps keep dirt and debris from getting in between and under your tile. As a result, you must protect. When moisture gets under tiles, it creates a conducive environment for mildew and mold growth. Therefore, make sure your bathroom tile grout is in good condition. For this, clean it regularly and seal it completely to prolong its lifespan.
Tip #2: Clean the bathroom exhaust grille
If your bathroom ventilation is covered in dust, it won’t work efficiently. Give the exhaust grille a good cleaning to avoid motor failures and mold and mildew.
Tip #3: Get a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt) bathroom receptacle
Ensure that your bathroom receptacle is GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt). These outlets are ideally used to prevent electrical shock and damage when water comes in contact with a plugged-in device or splashes against the outlet.
Tip #4: Avoid damaging the toilet
Plumbing can be complicated if you don’t know what you’re doing, and nobody would like house flooding or the toilet spewing sewage all over the floor. To prevent toilet troubles, don’t make any movements to the toilet bowl; this will help you avoid water leaks from the water seal. Similarly, if a plumbing job is too complicated, make sure to call a plumber to handle the requirement.
Tip #5: Check the bathroom sink drainage
Personal care products, hair, soap scum can create a buildup in the sink drain leading to flooding. So if the bathroom sink has poor drainage, remove and clean the “P” trap. If you are not sure of how to do this, call your plumber to help you out.
